GodSpace offers lesson materials on the Bible catering to children ages 4 to 12 years old. Produced by Burst Christian Resources affiliated with Baptist Churches of NSW and ACT, they promise these to be relational, relevant & engaging for kids. Given its nature, the GodSpace website needed to be optimised for e-commerce. So, the Human Pixel team created a brand new e-commerce website for it, complete with multiple integrated payment options along with other great plugins.
The Planning
Before proceeding with design & development, we talked to the Client first via a Discovery Session to make sure their new website addressed their needs. We asked them about GodSpace & what they wanted for it. Afterwards, we assessed their previous website to see the areas for improvement. Then equipped with the information we needed, we came up with our recommendation & plan which we implemented upon their approval.
The Website Features
Along with content migration & a new website layout, we implemented the following features on the new GodSpace e-commerce website.
WordPress + WooCommerce
The previous website was already hosted on WordPress. However, it did not have the e-commerce functionality GodSpace needed as a website. To address this, we installed WooCommerce. We chose WooCommerce because it allows the Client to sell physical, online, downloadable, and even external products. It fits perfectly into the requirement of GodSpace with its mix of books & downloadable content.
Xero for WooCommerce
In connection with WooCommerce, we also integrated Xero to help streamline their accounting process. The integration automates invoice creation for e-commerce sales. Each time someones places an order in GodSpace, it syncs to the Client’s Xero account to keep records up to date. Information synced include all product, discount, shipping & tax data. Then when payment made, it’s reflected in the invoice.
Multiple Payment Options
As we’ve mentioned, we created multiple payment options particularly Stripe & POLi Payments along with Direct Deposit & Pay on Invoice. These will help increase GodSpace’s sales since it lessens the chances of visitors not pushing through with orders due to lack of convenient payment options.
Australia Post Live Rate Calculator
We also installed the Australia Post Live Rate Calculator to inform their customers about real-time shipping costs. The calculator also states the estimated delivery time of an order.
One Page Checkout
Moreover, we set up a One Page Checkout to further optimise the ordering & payment process. Customers do not need to click through different pages to provide necessary information particularly their billing, shipping & payment details. This also helps lessen shopping cart abandonment.
Gravity Forms
Additionally, we used Gravity Forms to create the different forms within the website. Through this plugin, the Client can download form entries in CSV format. Also, the information provided in the contact form is sent to the Client’s email.
Fully Responsive Design
Then to top it all off, we designed the website along with all its features to be responsive whether a user is on mobile, tablet, laptop or desktop.
